WASHINGTON (7News) — Today’s Spotlight on Education is shining a light on an extraordinary act of generosity from the St. Paul VI Catholic High School community.
Last week, students, faculty, and families rallied together for a food and hygiene drive that exceeded all expectations, collecting more than 25,000 pounds of essential items. This incredible effort will go a long way toward combating hunger and supporting vulnerable families across Northern Virginia.
The drive was part of Paul VI’s ongoing commitment to service and leadership, and it showcased the power of community when people unite for a common cause. From organizing logistics to encouraging participation, students played a key role in making this initiative a success. Their dedication reflects the school’s mission to not only educate but also inspire compassion and responsibility.
Together, James McCaskey, Senior Outreach Specialist for Catholic Charities’ St. Lucy Food Project, and Angelina Warren and Michael Guilday, seniors at Paul VI High School shared what motivated this effort, the challenges they faced, and how these donations will directly impact families in need. They also spoke about the growing issue of food insecurity in our region and why community-driven solutions like this are so critical.
This initiative is more than just numbers. It’s about hope, dignity, and making sure no one is left behind. Thanks to the generosity of Paul VI and its partners, thousands of families will have access to food and hygiene products during a time when these resources are needed most.
