St. Lucy Food Project

Over 323,790 people in the Arlington Diocese are food insecure, meaning they do not know where their next meal is coming from. As a Catholic response to the hunger and food insecurity in our Diocese, Catholic Charities conducts a diocesan-wide outreach to collect and distribute food where it is most needed through the St. Lucy Food Project. Catholic Charities believes passionately in a future without hunger.

Hunger often goes unseen—but its impact on 323,790 individuals is real. The St. Lucy Food Project addresses food insecurity throughout the 21 counties and 7 cities of our Diocese by operating food pantries in AlexandriaSterling, and Front Royal, as well as a central distribution warehouse in Manassas. We serve thousands of individuals and families in need, delivering nonperishable food, fresh produce, dairy, and meat through a network of parish, interfaith, community, and government partners.

Donate Food and Hygiene Items
Food donations are always welcome and help us keep our shelves stocked for those in need. We accept nonperishable food items, selected hygiene items, and often have special seasonal or emergency needs. Consider organizing a food drive through your parish, workplace, or community group.

Help Catholic Charities Collect More Produce!

As the St. Lucy Food Project aims to give those who are facing food insecurity free and nutritious food, we need your help providing them with the means to get fresh produce. This produce service project will help those in food pantries all around our Diocese get access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and is a great way to earn service hours for students!

Please reach out to ian.radel@ccda.net 703-349-0974 or james.mccaskey@ccda.net 703-637-2547 with any questions.

Volunteer
Your time and support are vital to our mission. Volunteers are needed to help sort, organize, and distribute food at any of our 3 St. Lucy Food Project pantry locations or at the St. Lucy Distribution Hub. We also welcome volunteer drivers to help deliver food across the region, as well as service hour opportunities.

Contact Ian Radel Ian.Radel@ccda.net for more information on volunteering at any of our 4 sites.
