At Catholic Charities we seek to serve the whole person – as our faith calls us to do. In addition to providing for material needs, we offer medical and psychological services to care for the physical and mental well-being of those we serve.
Serving Those Without Healthcare Insurance
The Mother of Mercy Free Health Clinics in Manassas and Woodbridge serve low-income men and women without healthcare insurance. The clinics follow the principles of Catholic teaching, including the sanctity of all human life and
the preferential option for the poor. It relies on volunteer medical professionals including primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, cardiologists, a pulmonologist, an orthopedic doctor, an obstetrician, a chiropractor, a pharmacist, physical therapist, respiratory therapist,
phlebotomist, dietician, and registered and licensed practical nurses.
The clinic offers prenatal care as
well as classes to help patients learn about nutrition, diabetes and gluten
intolerance, and exercise, among other topics. The adjacent Catholic Charities
office provides patients with additional services, including a baby closet, and
emergency food supplies.
Responding to Mental Health Needs
We serve the psychological needs of our patients through our Family Services mental health counseling program. We provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families at multiple locations and 16 parishes throughout the Diocese. Fees are charged on a sliding scale, depending on patient income.
Catholic Charities is responding to the Church’s sexual abuse crisis by providing counseling to any victim of abuse, at no cost, regardless of where the abuse occurred.
Catholic Charities works with parishes and families to address the current opioid crisis, which has devastated families and communities within our Diocese.
