Services

The Fredericksburg District Office, located at 305 Hanson Ave. in Fredericksburg, serves the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Westmoreland, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, Orange, Madison, Culpeper, and Fauquier, as well as the city of Fredericksburg. The staff provides counseling (for an individual, families, or couples), adoption services, foster care, crisis pregnancy counseling, referrals for emergency assistance, and information. The staff participates in community development.

Children's Services

Adoption Program
Catholic Charities is a licensed child-placing agency. Children are placed with married couples who can be loving parents. Extra efforts are made to find families for infants and children with special needs. Help is given to families seeking to adopt homeless children from foreign lands. We also do home studies for International and Parental adoptions.

Foster Home Program
The staff identifies and evaluates temporary foster homes for infants. During the child's stay, foster parents and staff share responsibility for the child's care and development.

Family Homes
Pregnant women who need an alternative home are provided with a wholesome, secure haven and a good model of family life.

Crisis Pregnancy Counseling
Free counseling is available to any woman, man, or family involved in a crisis pregnancy. Assistance is provided in finding living arrangements, medical care, and financial support Options discussed with clients include parenting or making an adoption plan.

Baby Needs Closet
Diapers, diapering supplies, clothing, formula, and parenting resource information are available to a parent or guardian of a child that is 24 months old or younger. The Closet is designed to assist a parent or guardian during a temporary cirsis or emergency.


Family Counseling Services

Individuals, families, and couples experiencing stress are provided help in resolving their difficulties and gaining a clearer understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their life situations.

Call 540-371-1124 for an appointment. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Group counseling is also available for grief and loss, managing the difficult child, social skills for ADHD or Asberger/Autistic school-age children, and anger management for adolescents.

We have licensed, bilingual (Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese), and master-level counselors. We are on many insurance panels and offer a sliding scale for the non-insured. The sliding scale is based on gross income and the number in the family.

Our staff members are available for outreach and worksop presentations in their field of expertise to assist or support other nonprofit or community organizations.


Information and Referral

This office serves as a center for information and referral, including referrals for emergency assistance. The staff is available to consult with parish and community groups who share the goals of the agency.

Immigrant worker rights. This office works closely with Catholic Charities' staff at Hogar Hispano (in Falls Church) to ensure immigrant worker rights. If an immigrant has a legal right to work, there are laws to protect him or her against discrimination in the work place. Coming from the North on I-95, take exit 133A toward US-17 (Business/Falmouth). Merge onto US 17/Warrenton Rd. Turn right (south) onto US 1 (which is also US-17). Turn right (west) onto Hanson. The Catholic Charities office is on your immediate right in Riverside Business Center. Look for the "Catholic Charities" awning!
