Program history:
Initially sponsored by ALIVE in 1973, the program resided for the first 35 years in the City of Alexandria.  Program sponsorship changed July 1, 1989, to the Campagna Center (formerly the Alexandria Community Y) and was located briefly in the Lee Center in Alexandria before moving to the Campagna Center building on South Washington Street.  In September 2008, program sponsorship moved to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA), and RSVP moved to the CCDA offices in Arlington.  The program service area includes the City of Alexandria, the counties of Arlington and Fairfax, and the jurisdictions within.

Our traditional partnerships with the City of Alexandria, Goodwin House Foundation, the National Park Service, Volunteer Alexandria, Volunteer Arlington, Volunteer Fairfax, hospitals, schools, libraries, local non-profits and government, the arts, and museums afford our member volunteers with numerous opportunities to give back to the community.
As we look toward expanding our outreach and services to better meet the needs of individuals, groups, and organizations, we especially appreciate the work of the n4A award winning Boomer and Senior Volunteer Fairs in Fairfax, Wisdom Works and the Arlington Community Foundation in Arlington, and Plus 50 Community Colleges: Ageless Learning.
Thank you to all our volunteers, workstations, and staff who have greatly enriched the program these last 35 years.
