PARENTING

No matter what you do as a parent, some expert will probably tell you that you have done the wrong thing. Here at Catholic Charities’ Family Services, the view is that most parents do the right thing most of the time, simply because they love their children and care about them more than anyone else does. As a parent, you are already doing important things for your children:
• expressing your love
• making your child feel secure
• building his or her self-esteem
• staying flexible and recognizing the time for change as your child grows
• communicating openly and honestly
• being confident in your own abilities.

However, being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world. It can be overwhelming at times.

Most parents want to do a good job of raising their children. But unlike other jobs where you get special training, most parents are left to do the best they can, with what they know from their own experience. There is no need to feel that you are all alone or that no one cares. Catholic Charities’ Family Services is always there to help you.
